Paul Rodgers later formed Bad Company.

Formed in London in 1968; core lineup Rodgers/Kossoff/Fraser/Kirke. Breakthrough came with the album Fire and Water (1970) and the single "All Right Now". Chronicled issues: Kossoff's drug problems, band instability and eventual break-up in 1973. Members went on to other projects (notably Bad Company for Rodgers and Kirke).

DeBaser reviews present Free as an influential late-1960s/early-1970s English blues-rock band, praised for songwriting, Kossoff's guitar and Fraser's bass. Reviews highlight albums Fire and Water, Tons Of Sobs, Free and the hit "All Right Now." Criticism centers on later instability and Kossoff's drug problems.
