A film I was completely unaware of until a few days ago. Then, thanks to a friend, I became aware of this work featuring a masterful (as always) Christopher Lee, and I found it quite intriguing.
"Le cinque chiavi del terrore" almost falls into an episodic horror category, even though it's not exactly like that. The film is essentially based on stories dictated by magical cards belonging to a mysterious individual, Dr. Schok. Five men plus Dr. Shock on board a train will have their dramatic destinies "read," and thus the viewer will be catapulted into the adventures of these five men where the supernatural reigns supreme.
Honestly, I expected a bit more from this film; the first story is perhaps the best, the one about the werewolf. The others, like the one about the hand that wants to kill Christopher Lee, the vampire wife, or the killer plants, are stories that could have been much better developed in my opinion. I don't know why, but I had the feeling that these stories are cut off just when they start getting interesting, and that frankly annoyed me a bit.
I'm not saying I was totally disappointed; in the end, the film is watchable, but from a horror movie with Christopher Lee, you always expect something more interesting. Instead, I have to say that this time we are facing a little movie that you watch and probably don't remember in the long run.
If you're a fan of the genre, I can also tell you to watch it. However, if you're looking for much higher-quality films in this genre, then I suggest you look towards other titles. I've watched the film and don't believe I wasted my time. If you watch it, let me know!
