"The Book of Eli," a film not highly rated in Italy, tells the story of a man who, thanks to his faith after an apocalyptic war, tries to reach the west, San Francisco, to disseminate the Bible. Eli, the protagonist of the film, is played by a magnificent Denzel Washington. The plot is not based on the situation in a post-apocalyptic period but, rather, speaks of the power of faith that can be transmitted to men. This power can be used both for good and for evil, because its words would influence a large number of people, thus giving great power to whoever disseminated it.

The depiction of a post-apocalyptic setting is represented very well. The action scenes are engaging thanks to different shots that allow you to immerse yourself in the event. The film includes some scenes that may be considered horror. The scenes don't feature explicit horror, but you have to imagine them.

One could say that the Hughes brothers have offered us a great film, which, however, strangely did not achieve the deserved success here in Italy.
