My reviews above so far have sparked the same laughter and reactions that Ignazio Larussa elicits on Anno Zero!! I have been the subject of bitter and harsh polemics from the various nostalgics who roam here. To be clear, those who think that today in 2011 it's impossible, if not an arduous task, to make good rock! The worst category that can exist in music as in politics, if you think about it for a moment, is that of the nostalgics... damn it, the world spins, there's a lot of good stuff, and these people are stuck on "Fear of the Dark", or worse, they still think a proletariat and a bourgeoisie exist...
I read a review on this work by the F.F. in which the reviewer gave it 3 stars - Maximum respect all right, but I wonder if this album is worth 3 stars, then let's turn everything off, guys! I was seriously afraid that the F.F., who let's be clear are not technically the Allman Brothers Band, had become senile and softened with time... Then... Then there comes "White Limo".
What is this, guys?? In 2011, a piece like this?? And how about the nostalgics? It's an incredible piece!!!! Stuff to make Bin Laden's beard grow on Albano.
Let's clear one thing up: in this album, energy runs, and you can feel it from the first track, where Dave Grohl yells after a few piercing guitar chords "These are my last famous words!!" Damn it, Dave!!! Then there's "Rope" which oozes charisma and energy and "Dear Rosemary", a splendid ride full of melody. Another splendid track I cannot refrain from mentioning is "Arlandria".... But let's not list the tracks; we're not in school here, guys...
I just want to point out that just as "White Limo" is one of the best rock tracks of the decade zero, this album is one of the most uplifting things of recent times... There's a void in the middle of the album, let's say a couple of negligible tracks, but the rest are proteins.. it's ginseng... it's royal jelly!!!...
The F.F. confirm they are not only cool (the metalheads will forgive me), and MTV idiots, but perhaps with this album, they are clearly saying they are the best rock band or at least one of the best on the planet.
Impossible not to have this album, the best in F.F. discography.
