It's 1997 when The Colour And The Shape is released, the album that catapulted the Foo Fighters to success, and listening to it, I'm not surprised at all that they've become one of the most well-known rock bands of the moment.
The album is marked by the arrival of former Alanis Morissette drummer, the eccentric Taylor Hawkins, who brings a unique atmosphere and charisma to the group. Indeed, the record is probably one of the most recognized and contains some of the iconic tracks of Dave Grohl's band.
The album opens with a sweet intro titled "Doll", which thanks to the warm voice of the singer sticks in your head with pleasure.
At this point, the more destructive side of the Foo Fighters comes into play with "Monkey Wrench", a punk rock track of incredible power.
Now we are in the heart of the CD; from here on the group proves they can write songs of various genres, smoothly transitioning from acoustic tracks to more country ones without missing their famous energy and melody.
The main tracks of the record are, besides the aforementioned "Monkey Wrench", "My Hero", a song that talks about Dave Grohl's childhood heroes, and the great "Everlong", where in the video the frontman shows he's also a good actor (And I wonder when I sing along with you if everything could ever feel this real forever, if anything could ever be this good again). Even beyond these amazing tracks, the album is truly phenomenal and makes you really proud to have bought it.
It's a shame I haven't managed to see them live yet, but sooner or later, I will dammit!!!
