Not long ago, I inexplicably forgot to attend their last nearby concert, free and, judging by the stories, incredibly intense: I'm still kicking myself. I'm really sorry because it's rare for a band dedicated to vertiginous runs of space-kraut-rock to be so compelling these days. On the other hand, the reverse can't be said: listening to cosmic music made of semi-distorted acid jams requires at least engaging tracks, a necessary condition to elevate imagination from the ground.
Ecco.
The debut of the Chileans Föllakzoid is a record rich with applaudable musical textures: it's all about experiencing something new without inventing anything, simply composing inspired music. The blood of their compositions wouldn't be the same without the perpetual echoes, the spatial and dreamy yet loquacious guitars, and a bass-drum relaxation like a trip in the middle of a nebula. I specify something that I would say needs to be highlighted in these musical realms: they also sing, nothing more than a dynamic touch of no small matter.
Again, ecco.
Appropriately meditative, proponents of accelerated trance and tracks not excessively long for the genre, but which necessarily require their time to accelerate this sort of astral vibrations, translating listening into a worthy sideral hypnosis.
An album whose first half overshadows the rest, which overall finds the right balance among the various metamorphoses of the monumental Loose, drawing inspiration from dear experimental Germany as if there were no tomorrow and which perhaps reaches formal perfection in the subsequent remarkable II. One of the new psychedelic realities I have the most hope for, even though I've already been widely satisfied.
