You're Dead!

Record presented very well on the web, I can't remember if the preview piece that came out was "Never Catch Me" or "Coronus, The Terminator" or maybe both, it's such a beauty to listen to and you immediately understand that it's on another level compared to the crowd, you listen to it continuously without ever becoming boring or repetitive, there are hits and there are the right features, yet there's something that seems off about this record.

I have the feeling that it's a painting that received too many nuances in the end, a poodle that's a bit too dolled up. Mind you, one could say it's the album of the year hands down, but Flyng Lotus should be judged on his own, against himself and not against others, and in this sense "You're Dead!" despite excellent features and a clearer path, seems to me overall less successful than the previous "Until the Quiet Comes". I even place it behind the collection "Ideas+Drafts+Loops" where there's a lot of stuff gathered here and there with FlyLo loose, in a Sunday afternoon version, much more direct on his ideas, without pressure. "You're Dead!" is the FlyLo of Saturday night, aperitif and other strange things, dressed like Prince telling many tales.

What stands out to my ears in this record is the masterful management of Thundercat who, under FlyLo's guidance, becomes the Chosen One, the perfect sidekick for the genre. And the production of the track with Snoop Dogg. Really couldn't produce a more suitable track for him. High tailoring.

Listen to it and help me clarify my ideas, I feel like I'm being subjected to a high-level strong-arm tactic, in the meantime, I'll greet you and go listen to Between Villains.
