The first sensation is that of feeling overwhelmed by a cascade of sweet sounds.

This is how the self-titled EP by Floral, a Californian math-rock band, begins, debuting with a lively and spectacular sound that is also technically astounding. "Aquarius theatre" introduces the album with a series of notes and riffs played at lightning speed by guitarist Nate Sherman, with Ty Mayer who in the rhythm section tries to keep up with equal frenzy and enthusiasm. A remarkably impactful opening track, particularly lively yet surprisingly melodic and pleasant. This first impression is confirmed with the following tracks: "Balancing act" slightly slows down the pace in favor of a less direct and more unbalanced and irregular musical structure, but equally effective. The rest of the album follows the usual script, although it never becomes predictable and repetitive (also thanks to the short duration of the project). There are two absolute peaks: the dizzying "Cars", which begins with an explosive guitar attack only to become an exhilarating speed race between the two instruments, and the melancholic "Temple", a perfect conclusion to the EP, where Sherman's guitar's sorrowful wails guide Mayer's drums in a very delicate dance, without however becoming unnecessarily dramatic.

Listening to the music of this album, it truly seems possible to hear, touch, and live the radiant colors present on the cover. The complexity of these tracks and the sensations they manage to convey are noteworthy, considering that the band consists of only two members.

Floral have managed to bring a burst of life to a genre that desperately needed it, finding a perfect balance between technique and beauty.
