This is a question.
I've already asked it, but I need to expand on it.
Why do people like these Fine Before You Came so much? Why, when I saw them live at Miodi, was everyone there stripping for nothing?
I bet whatever the hell you want that if these guys were American, you would all have said "oh my god, everything's copied, in the '90s this emo was already explored thoroughly, what's the point of making an album like this today? and what is it? are they Angel & Airwaves?". But no, they are Italian, they use Italian as a language to express their...."""""sadness"""""....and then everyone can sing banalities to the wind and feel free and delighted? I really don't know, I'm amazed. The first album at its release seemed like the album of miracles, and now I feel that even this new one will have a similar fate. I listen to it because I have to understand.
a) The voice. Do an instrumental, because the ideas are definitely there, not very original, actually not at all, but who cares, we're in 2011, and we're not all [insert the name of any genius]. But this voice, no, really.
a1) The lyrics. What terrible stuff. I really have no idea if they are serious or not, if they are, I can't fathom why they are liked. Really. I'm confused.
b) The music. Here, the ideas, and in some cases even emotional, are present. Well, actually the first four tracks are all the same, but that must be a side effect of the voice, but for example "Paese" is instrumentally and melodically very beautiful, with these guitars, which are the strong point of the whole album after all, that go on to really weave the melancholy into cold textures, and also in the following "Capire Settembre", a remarkable intro, a really beautiful arpeggio, melancholic and gray, that pulls the whole piece up and down, intense, I've already said I don't care about the banality, then the voice, and everything falls apart for me. Then that's it.
The album is over, and I still haven't found an answer. I expect a hailstorm of "WHATTHEHELLAREYOUSAYINGWHATTHEHELLDOYOUWANTYOUIDIOTDON'TUNDERSTANDMUSIC", and it's true, huh, that I don't get it. That's why I'm asking you: tell me why?
