LA RECENSIONE

"What is it to burn" was an album that paved the way for a genre, a genre that is now overexposed and has become a trend especially among teenagers. Obviously, we are talking about emo.
And that masterpiece (in its small way, let's not misunderstand) was recorded by a bunch of young guys with wholesome faces who chose the name Finch.

The year was 2002.

August 2005. Comes "Say Hello to Sunshine." Another little masterpiece, though not according to everyone. Some praise it. Some hate it. Some say it is too heavy compared to its predecessor, and some say it has nothing to do with the true Finch.
The fact is that those 5 young guys with wholesome faces dared, had courage, and recorded a great album.
Album and then tour. Then they broke up. With a farewell show in November 2007, in California. But a big and bold message on their Myspace said that Finch would return. And so they did.

July 22, 2008, was the official release date. A golden F stands calmly on a black background. The EP contains 4 songs. "Daylight" is perhaps the best of the bunch, not too fast but very well played, distinctive, and also excellent at the lyrical level. It is followed by "Famine or Disease", which on their website is mysteriously called Grizzsong. "From Hell" is perhaps the least fitting track, but here it fits nicely with a good de gustibus. The mini album closes with "Chinese Organ Thieves", a track already widely played live, well-structured and rather complex.

Despite Finch being mostly Cosmonaut (Barcalow's parallel band) and despite it being just a 4-track EP, it seems like they are on the right path, it seems like there was no hiatus, and it seems everything continues with the logic and evolution undertaken with the first two albums.

Furthermore, the choice to self-produce is daring and satisfying. Not bad for 5 simple young guys with wholesome faces.

Ah.

For now, it's better to forget about stores, you can only purchase online, but there are already spreading dates on the supposed "physical" release of the EP in question.
