Of this album, I save three things: the singer, his tones between the romantic and the nostalgic, and the artwork. What I don’t save about this album: artistic project and production. Adding up the strengths and weaknesses, the score that would come out would be a paltry 5, something like, "the student is clever but doesn't try hard" (how many times have you heard that in the past, right?! I for one) to make it clear. Because fundamentally this band from Pisa has some interesting cards to play, like wanting to try an alternative rock path that isn't the usual one we all know, going back in time and giving a vocal romanticism to the project. But that's not enough, especially because opting for certain sounds and instrumental passages ends up making you a faded copy of this (who said Deftones?!) and that other group. In short, let's go for a frontman who truly has talent and expressiveness to spare, go for the good basic intentions, but guys, at least musically, one must try to keep up, not necessarily with the times but at least with an artistic form that is solid and with a clear goal to reach. Also, alternating songs filled with pathos and others more lively is indeed a good thing, but care must be taken not to create a quality chasm between one segment and another (specifically, sluggish in the softer phases and decidedly more aggressive when push comes to shove and it's time to open the doors to distortion). Finally, I close on a point that usually infuriates me quite a bit, which is the production of the tracks in the studio: wanting to take care of every aspect of your music is definitely a wonderful thing, but it takes experience and above all, the ability to do all that, and honestly having a first track start with the voice blasting and covering the sound is certainly not the best way to present yourself to the audience. So, one way or another, you either spend time learning from mixing professionals or spend money on producers capable of giving a solid structure to everything. Failed, but only partially; as everyone knows, to err is human at a debut.
