The Feeder, almost unknown around here, are a trio with many changes in their music.
They started out playing Heavy Rock, transitioned to Punk Rock, and after the suicide of drummer Jon Lee, right at the peak of their career, they moved to a slower and calmer Rock.
'The Singles' retraces their entire career, focusing especially on the middle part of their career and the recent albums, somewhat neglecting the origins. The CD, a Greatest Hits in case it wasn't clear, is an excellent mix between fast and joyful songs (Just a Day above all) and ballads (High), which unfortunately become repetitive a bit too soon.
Only 3 new songs are included: the best one, in my opinion, is Lost & Found, a great punk song. The other 2 are more in line with recent years. Unfortunately, there are more slow songs than bouncy ones, but still good. Feeder have always been a single-focused band, meaning that in general, in the previous albums, the 2-3 best songs always stood out from the others.
The beauty of 'The Singles' lies in its variety. It starts well with "Come Back Around" and continues excellently with "Buck Rogers", Lost & Found and "Just a Day". Then it suddenly slows down with High and all the others.
One last note: the CD is sold together with a DVD featuring over 20 videos, practically all of them!
Drawing a line and starting over. This can effectively summarize the meaning of this 'The Singles'.
The important thing is that they continue to produce beautiful songs as they have done so far.
"Music changes the mood, mood changes people, and people change over time."
"Comfort In Sound must be part of the collection, and the lyrics inevitably raise the question: how can one heal from pain?"
