…the discursive approach taken with the previous review of the BBTS, about the motorcycle syllogism… yes, the one with the wheelie! with all its psychosis and mental masturbation… can only underline the complexity of the human psyche that, in a Freudian Thanatos, decides to brandish weapons in the name of anti-social and anarchic intellectual survival/assault.
In my case, those same impulses, already present as offspring of an acid rock, stoner, and anything else inherently anarchic when listened to in a condition of dynamic equilibrium, let alone if placed in ideal conditions, mine, or for the benefit of unbalanced minds, also ME, that seem to align with ancestral archetypes that find space only with those genres that keep the instinct of devastation alive.
Because HC and thrash are like a femme fatale; once those senses and impulses are awakened, they destroy or devastate in a pathos difficult to handle.
I think the Fear Factory thought the same after the last album of 2005 "Transgression," which had very little transgression.
So what is the question that arises spontaneously in the minds of the DeBaserians?
….ILM are you a psychopath? andwhythehellreviewaduplicate??!! Obviously, damn it!? We are facing the metal album of 2010… for now or at least until something better comes out, though I have my doubts about it.
Whether or not I am unhinged, it's certainly not my fault, otherwise I wouldn't be here discussing it so lucidly.
This proves that not all bands considered to be at the end of the line necessarily have to end up in the toilet and be branded with such a stigma for life, (a hope aimed more at Slayer: n.d.R.) but they can rise again from the sewer in which they had ended up.
Moreover, through the vast management of information via the internet, it is learned that there are possibilities…..bla bla bla bla…. Christian Olde Wolbers….bla bla bla bla… his current band, Arkaea…a huge pile of crap! …. bla bla bla ….dispute with duo Burton C. Bell/Dino Cazares ….bla bla bla….the band's moniker?!....WHO KNOOOOOOOOOOWS!!!!!!!!!
Well! putting aside the various fratricidal massacres, I can only praise the immense tsunami that is about to hit your heads! In fact, since lately there's nothing but talk about the ecosystem and the iceberg headed towards Australia, let's give a name to this cataclysm... "MECHANIZE"!
One thing is certain, if the world were to end tomorrow, I would immediately put on my Walkman MP3 player NWZ-W202 SONY, black, comfortable, aerodynamic, wireless, easy to wear, offering the right compromise between comfort and aesthetics with compact and decisive sound reproduction, and I would jump on my BMX with Shimano gears, screw the Ducati and the BMW….did you think I could afford such a bike!
Imagine then pedaling like a madman to the seductive notes of the opening and title track of the album, and moving at 5 Km/h because you soiled yourself and fear made you shift into a light gear while behind you have a building coming towards you…what a scene!
An anarchic and violent album, subversive and devastating, which manages to encapsulate the glories of the past, "Soul Of A New Machine," "Demanufacture," and "Obsolete," all without falling into pandering.
Technical skill and creative personality characterized also by the addition of a new rhythmic section, mastered by a massive Gene Hoglan (…of Strapping Young Lad) in a homicidal frenzy, who as recommended by his analyst, finds release only behind the drums, just listen to "Powershifter" to understand what I mean.
An excellent choice instead is the alternation of scream/growl/ethereal singing by Bell as in the very tight "Industrial Discipline" or like in "Designing The Enemy", which together with "Christploitation", boast the inclusion of skillful background music that makes the album as unsettling as it is sinuous to listen to, conferring smooth granite pleasure to the entire project, without thus appearing cryptic at first listen.
On the other hand, "Crash Test" present in the Limited Edition is nothing but a crappy Bonus Track they include just to make fun of you and create a privy where you enter if you pay: the Limited Edition indeed, so there's no point in discussing it…
Conclusions? None! Listen to it!
Tracklist Lyrics and Videos
11 Crash Test (03:46)
Some men believe
Animals aren't seen
Testing on their minds
Testing with their lives
You can't believe
Not even percieve
Animals that die
Animals that cry
Chorus:
Crash test! So what!
Crash test! So what!
Catastrophies
To the animal species
Politically correct
On animals, to dissect?
What does it mean
When animals can dream?
Destroying a pure life
Only for a price
Repeat Chorus
Animals that die
Animals that cry
Testing on their minds
Testing with their lives (X2)
Crash! Test!
Animals that die
Animals that cry
Testing on their minds
Testing with their lives
Repeat 1st verse, Chorus
Crash!

Today Fear Factory with "Mechanize" are ready to reclaim their place on the modern metal scene, a place that sees them once again among the first, among the best.
"Christploitation" is one of the best Fear Factory songs in general, with its crushing chorus, haunting piano motif, and very fast riffs.
