The Profile

FEAR is an American hardcore punk band from Los Angeles formed in 1977 and led by Lee Ving. Known for incendiary shows, a notorious 1981 SNL appearance, and the landmark debut The Record (1982).

Featured in The Decline of Western Civilization (1981) and on Saturday Night Live with support from John Belushi. Signature songs include I Love Livin' in the City, Let's Have A War, and New York's Alright If You Like Saxophones. The Fear Record (2012) re-recorded material from the debut.

Two glowing DeBaser reviews paint FEAR as ferocious pioneers of Californian hardcore. The Record is hailed as essential, fast, and filthy, with standout cuts like I Don't Care About You and Let's Have A War. The band’s notoriety spans SNL chaos and The Decline of Western Civilization. The Fear Record revisits that fire with unfiltered bile and wit.
