THE REVIEW

45 RPM from 1979 plus Lipstick (unreleased 1982/85).

I was undecided on the rating, and I'll try to explain why. "Lipstick": An embarrassing track for all the fans, don't tell me it's good. It revisits "In tua Assenza" from the album POCO ZUCCHERO and even there it wasn't the best song (copied from Breaking Glass by D. Bowie). With the lyrics in English, they're trying to do a bit of dance, that's why I dated it to the early '80s, but maybe I'm wrong.

Keyboards, Synths, Drum Machine, maybe even a Fairlight, even the voice doesn't convince, almost uninterested. The chorus then oplaoplaoplaooooieahh is very Der Kommissar by Falco. IN THE PLASTIC THE MIRROR seems to say so. "In Tua Assenza" used to say: "Sono stato nella tua stanza più segreta a rompere specchi". "Anche Zimmermann": It seems like a leftover from the previous album: "Suicidio". Almost SKA piece, a slap on the wrist for various Zimmermanns in the world (Zimmermann alias Bob Dylan). "You think you're too high for us. Your guitar is now tired". Powerful and precise voice, it's a pity the arrangement reminds too much of "Il Mio Sesso" from the previous album.

Later on, Faust'o will renounce "Suicidio" and probably also this 45 RPM, if it weren't for the B-side: "KLEENEX", a gem, shredding guitars, minimal drums, perfect voice, and an anthology ending. The lyrics supported by a whispered voice. It is deliberately raw: "La mia lingua sul Tampax, sfiora la castità. Per servirti ha il mio Rolex, per freddarti l'età. Stupida gente che crede nell'ambiguità. Sempre qualcuno che fugge ma solo a metà". You can almost see the drunk rich kids at the pub. Then "Kleenex" will be included in "Poco Zucchero" with new arrangements, De Piscopo will play the Bass Drum, only bass drum. Claudio Pascoli on Sax and Faust'o Synth, Polymoog, Arp Bass.
