90-60-90
You know, we are selective. Not out of racism, out of necessity.
And we are fast.
Men calculate the proportions between chest, waist, and hips in just a few fractions of a second. Not for a trivial aesthetic reason but because 90-60-90 means: fertility, continuation of the species. Just like women do, all in a few tenths. Other parameters: smell, symbols of power.
There's no second chance to make a first good impression.
This applies to all fields.
Now, I'm not exactly sure what my parameters are in the musical field, but I heard this group's name, Farflung, then I learned about the proposed genre. Finally, I saw the cover of this album.
And it was like:
- Samantha;
- miniskirt;
- 7 centimeters of heel ("the fascination with high heels, in an anthropological sense, derives from the implicit message that, by wearing this type of footwear, the woman is disadvantaged in fleeing, thus making her an easier prey for the male-hunter").
I knew it would be mine.
I was quick and lucky. The problem is, I don't believe in luck.
Therefore: evaluation, choice.
This album is for those who:
- said yes to Hawkwind, no to Blue Cheer and to cholesterol;
- want to travel, not across the desert but towards Saturn's third ring;
- as a child, wanted to be an astronaut, not a soccer player;
- dream of the future, the deafening silence of the cosmic void, alien scenarios far from habit;
- watched all the episodes of Star Trek, without their testicles seeking political asylum in Burma;
- have seen Alien at least 5 times. Not for Sigourney Weaver.
Much like a shuttle, this album starts fast ("Unborn Planet," "Endless Drifting Wreck"), with heavy tones, as if attempting to defeat Earth's gravity and enter the stratosphere, then calms in the middle ("Ix"), once it reaches optimal cruising speed, and finally disappears from the radar, sucked into a black hole ("Invincible"). Towards an unknown destination.
I could overwhelm you with biographical notes about this group and this album.
But they are just superstructures.
So, screw this review.
A study on a small sample demonstrated that, statistically, the most enduring marriages are those where the couple has good harmony from the very first moments of the relationship.
Look at the cover of this album, savor its title.
Remember your first impression. It's the best thing you have.
We are much more intelligent than we think.
