Faraualla

The Profile

Faraualla is an Apulian female vocal ensemble formed in 1995. Their first self-titled album was released in 1999 and features predominantly a cappella singing with occasional percussion contributions.

Members on the first album (named in the review) are Gabriella Schiavone, Maristella Schiavone, Teresa Vallarella, Loredana Perrini and Paola Amerano. Percussion on the album is by Cesare Pastanella and Pippo "Ark" D'Ambrosio. The group's repertoire and techniques evoke Apulia and other vocal traditions such as Corsican, Bulgarian, medieval and Middle Eastern.
