The atavistic vice of underestimating stylistically quirky bands, even worse if they sing in Italian and, terribly, if they use irony, is uniquely Italian. In Germany, not to mention the UK and America, such bands are invited to Saturday night shows in front of millions of viewers.

Unfortunately, there persists in our country a sort of resistance to those who make people laugh outside the classic forms of cinema and theater and choose to mix music and laughter. The hope is to abandon these hesitations because these five Tuscan entertainers are incredibly skilled: they play like few others and write unforgettable songs.

Fantasia Pura Italiana, a name that says it all, used crowdfunding and the collaboration of Vrec to produce this mini-album, which comes after a handful of singles. The result is magnificent: five deadly, sharp songs without any hiccups, and if you come up with absurd titles like “Fette biscottate e Rock’n’Roll” and “Buffoni pecore e re,” no one can accuse you of not seeking the thrill. We can say it: there is life beyond Elio e le Storie Tese.
