"No Roots" by "Faithless" is simply a great album. It is homogeneous, compact, elegant, and melancholic. It's a dagger in the heart. It runs fast, refined, and discreet from start to finish and truly captivates you throughout its journey. It's an album mostly dance but with something extra. The superb lyrics of Maxi Jazz are really out of the ordinary in this sense, and it's an album more to listen to than to dance to. However, it exudes a strange and sensual magnetism that naturally inspires soft and sinuous movements. The entire record has a steady and controlled rhythm, it seems like the soundtrack of a night in a smoky and dark "New York" club. It's definitely a nocturnal album, to be put on in the car around two, maybe alone, absolutely in silence.
Fifteen tracks, 54 minutes, neither too long nor too short, without too many frills and without smudges. An alternation of well-measured and intelligent accelerations and brakes with practically perfect sound and detail care.
I don't want to point out specific tracks, first because it's purely subjective, second because I wouldn't know how to choose; there are at least ten gems.
In conclusion, one of the most beautiful CDs I've listened to in this 2005, unmissable for lovers of Trip-Hop and refined dance.
And to think I bought it by chance. I liked the cover.
