Fabio Gremo is a musician with a solid musical background: perhaps many know him as the bassist of Tempio delle Clessidre, a prog group certainly among the best on the Italian scene, albeit very derivative. The name, after all, reveals their devotion to Museo Rosenbach. In reality, Gremo is also part of Ianva, another well-known Genoese folk-noir band - albeit belonging to the dark scene - where he plays the classical guitar. And it is precisely this instrument that the Genoese musician loves the most and in which he graduated from the Conservatory. His second work, "Don't Be Scared OF Trying", has now been released with distribution by Black Widow: the title aims to convey a positive message and give strength to those who stop at the first difficulties to never give up but to persevere with constancy and honor in their goals.

The first album - "La mia voce" - was instrumental: Gremo's love for Steve Hackett, folk, and certain romantic atmospheres was evident upon listening. However, the new work consists of 10 sung tracks featuring a considerable array of guests like Marco Fabbri (drums), Giulio Canepa (electric guitar), Sandro Amadei (piano), Antonio Fantinuoli (cello). I must say it is a good album characterized by romantic rock sounds in which melody plays a predominant role. Of course, great space is given to the classical guitar, which is undoubtedly played with great expertise. I must confess to being pleasantly surprised by "Don't Be Scared Of Trying": some songs are truly splendid like "By The Fire": the melodies are airy and the atmospheres are romantic and fairy-tale-like. "Ballad For The Good Ones" is instead a moving folk ballad that speaks to us of lost times. "Hypersailor" benefits from a choir and is perhaps the most prog piece on the album. Overall, the level is good, and there are no dips in tone, though perhaps the voice is not the strong point, even if it is nonetheless distinctive. It's a pleasant and light album that certainly deserves to be listened to. If you like the less cerebral Genesis and Steve Hackett, I believe "Don't Be Scared OF Trying" is for you.
