LA RECENSIONE

At first, I didn't want to go. Herculaneum - Agerola isn't exactly close, and I had already seen him in Herculaneum with photos outside the theater! But in the end, I couldn't resist and, climbing mountain paths and walking quite a bit, I arrived at the Colonia Montana del Principe di Napoli, a former Mussolini-era colony. In hindsight, two hours earlier. The lights, the seating, the tuned and tested instruments, a few words with die-hard fans or not, maybe even an approach with a beautiful girl, engaged... The "filly" I had invited silently declined the invitation.
And then I greet Him, standing by the iron structure, who waves back with his hands.
I'm not going to do a track by track. I'll just say that the concert lasted exactly two hours, from 9:40 PM to 11:40 PM, and he performed 19 songs. He's a born cabaret performer: "sing along... but softly if you're off-key!", "let's go on until two", "after mine, we'll do others' songs!", "you've never heard this one, I suggested it to Amadeus..." before "Domenica bestiale". The constants of his concerts are two: he does three songs with the guitar, and on "Domenica bestiale" he comes down among the audience, and I ALMOST SANG WITH HIM, I'M NOT KIDDING! What an Artist, a person who sang with Him shed tears! I managed to make two spoken interventions from the second row of the stage, where we were seated. I recalled that "In trattoria" he also did with Anna Oxa, and he nodded, remembering how that tour could have resulted in a DVD... and in "Gigi", I said "now you're in Naples", and he nodded again! He remembered how Luigi Piccaluga once surprised him by coming to Naples by train, reaffirming the truth of the anecdote... Furthermore, in the same song, after singing "a man who had a voice like this", he says "Joao Gilberto"! While "anima mia" is performed in a jazzy style with vocalizing, but I prefer it "solemn", like on the record. Noteworthy is the introduction, both spoken and musical, of "051/222525". Fabio talks about how Telefono Azzurro, born in 1987, had the number of the song and how they suggested he let people hear it. The song was loved, and he was happy: "when music can also do this"... On "un'altra volta al mare" there's applause, and I stand up, saying: "Masterpiece! Thank you, Fabio!", as I did with "Gigi". The encore belongs to "Non smetto di aspettarti" and "Rosalina". After the concert, I take Larry Tomassini's pick and exchange a few words, with a photo, with Ornella D'Urbano! But, above all, I didn't take any photos or videos, enjoying the concert without spoiling the set list and without memorizing it. With each song, I was completely absorbed. Because a concert is this, it's not to hear the artist sing, but to sing with Him, to be Him, because, as Pasquale Panella said, "the singer is one of the audience who enters from the other side". Giving a score to the concert doesn't make sense, I'll just say that it's a secret treasure, because only my eyes and no video hold it. "No video, never, will be able to remind me", quoting another of my idols, about whom I've written so much here.
