Another extreme band that's extremely scary that in Italy we've "shat" on as a group of four; perhaps even fewer (ask the illustrious wrecker for sure confirmation).
In fact, in the nineties, to see them play live, I had to emigrate for a day to nearby Switzerland to a super heavy metal festival near Zurich with a top-tier lineup (I recall among others Carcass, Entombed, Dismember. I also remember the perfect organization of the event: something we still dream of here).
But it’s not time for controversy, let's get back to the album in question.
"Damage 381" is the third LP by the English combo from Ipswich, released in 1997; a work characterized by a sensational novelty concerning the vocalist. A vocalist swap between Extreme Noise Terror and Napalm Death; it is therefore Mark "Barney" Greenway, temporarily at odds with Napalm, who screams for the thirty minutes that constitute this enormous sonic colossus.
Grindcrust - Hardcore played at a thousand that relies on targeted and explosive production in the hands of the usual (and solid) Colin Richardson. Nasty and distorted guitars; incredibly fast drumming throughout, often confused due to being so fast. It's the low-pitched and hyper-guttural growl of Mark that dictates law, his fierce law.
Just mention the forty seconds of the title track that literally tear you apart. A kick in the lower abdomen, with Dean’s insane screams balancing the "Barney" ogre; the same can be said for the remaining tracks. An auditory bloodletting without survivors.
An album closely related to "Utopia Banished" by Napalm Death; and Mark will already return to them the following year.
Four bold stars, take it or leave it...JESUS ON MY SIDE..
