I have read completely opposing opinions about this album: some were enchanted by it, while others criticized it for being overly predictable.
It is true, perhaps this album flattens too much on the post-rock standards, perhaps in some passages one can guess where the track is heading. Maybe the differences with their peers (I am particularly referring to Do Make Say Think) are too subtle.
Yet, I still believe that this album is a concentrated burst of emotions, sensations, and vitality. And honestly, when I listen to a track like "So Long, Lonesome", I feel I can confidently give it five stars. Is that too many? Probably. While you explain why and how, though, I'm going to listen to "The Birth And Death Of The Day".
