Unfortunately, Exodus, despite being very talented in terms of composition and overall quality, have never received the respect they deserve. Few metalheads give them the importance they rightfully deserve, some know them by hearsay, and few from direct experience. Very bad because some of their early records should absolutely be in the collection of a good metalhead and obligatorily in that of a thrasher.
Unfortunately, like most bands that created thrash metal, only the moniker remains of the band now, as their sound has softened for the mainstream audience.
When I think of Exodus, I think of Bonded By Blood, of the violence that emanates from that album, a level of violence that Exodus would never reach again.
Bonded By Blood is direct, fast, raw, fantastic—in short, thrash metal.
In the first lineup of Exodus, Kirk... the great Kirk who later moved to Metallica... yes, he wrote riffs that were then included in the album. The sonic barrier of the album is maintained by the two great guitarists Rick Hunolt and Gary Holt, who perform unforgettable solos.
The rhythmic part is wonderfully supported by Tom Hunting and Rob McKillop.
And finally the voice... raw, dirty, ignorant, direct: it is the beautiful voice of Paul Baloff, it is the voice of the true thrash metal singer—defiant, spitting the lyrics with violence, arrogance, overbearance? But is that how thrash should ultimately be? Unfortunately, Paul Baloff has passed away, one of the great voices of thrash has been silenced forever.
The songs are a succession of violence, malice, and speed, a debut like rat poison, so to speak.
The best ones: Bonded By Blood, Exodus, And Then There Were None, Metal Command, Strike Of The Beast. The others are equally legendary.
No reason not to have it... the cover is fantastic... mid-price... two tracks from a concert in London (with Steve Souza on vocals, snatched from Testament) and the photos... the photos in which there is also the red-maned Dave Mustaine!!! Make it yours if you like Bay Area thrash absolutely (but you probably already do) and if you love metal in general, don't miss it...
Life ends in sin... God cries... World dies...
(it's my first review... have mercy!!! Pleaseeee)
If you’re metal lovers, it’s impossible not to be carried away by the fantastic chorus in which Paul declares: Murder in the Front Row...
If you like metal in general, this is an album you MUST have, and if you’re a fan of thrash metal and don’t have this CD... well, you’re second-rate thrash metalheads, brothers!
