THE REVIEW

Post-Hardcore, Alternative Rock... genres/non-genres. Yes, because with these two terms you say so many things that in the end you don't say any. So, to which category do Exit Ten belong? The mystery of Fatima is probably less mysterious... but let's proceed in order and lay the cards on the table.

They are a quintet from that great piece of country that is England, they are angry but not too much, calmly. They scream but at the same time use great melodies that are pleasing to the ear and that tease the palate of a gentle soul eager to emerge. An example can be given by songs like "Eyes Never Lie" or "Smoke." Very catchy songs that draw you in right from the first listen and won't let go until you've worn out the Replay button.

The album more or less successfully navigates with very similar tracks and a characterization too ordinary for Alternative Rock (or even pop Rock, see Lion), but with a strong empathetic impact. What does that mean... well, actually nothing, but go beyond the simple words, because with Exit Ten the identification is remarkable, thanks also to the deep voice of the singer and the excellent use of instruments. Indeed, even if they haven't invented anything new, what they do, they do very well, easily moving between tear-jerking ballads and pseudo-Hardcore tracks.

For those interested, I'd like to remind you that Exit Ten have been around for quite a while, with a well-tested record going back to 2008 (Remember the Day) and some EPs with little appeal.

Recommended for: those who love Alternative Rock or Post-Hardcore.
