Exhorder is an American metal band from New Orleans, formed in 1985. They released the demo/album Slaughter In The Vatican (demo 1988, debut album 1990) and The Law (1992), were signed to Roadrunner, and reunited in 2008, later releasing Mourn The Southern Skies.

Early demos spread via tape-trading; debut production involved Scott Burns at Morrisound. Widely cited as influential in the development of groove/post-thrash and frequently compared to Pantera; described in contemporary sources as under-recognized despite historical importance.

DeBaser hosts a small set of enthusiastic reviews that regard Exhorder as a key originator of groove/post-thrash. Both Slaughter In The Vatican and The Law are treated as historically important and musically potent releases. Reviews highlight raw aggression, mosh-ready riffs, Scott Burns/Morrisound production, and frequent comparisons to Pantera.

For:Fans of thrash and groove metal, collectors of 1990s heavy music, and metal history readers.

This is the first album by Exhorder, a rather unlucky American band.
