Discs of 2015 Part.2

Washington D.C..

The Ex-Breathers have created an album that would not have been out of place in the American post-hardcore scene between the 80s and 90s. Closer to punk than metal, they strongly resemble Fugazi for their fury and schizophrenia, which reaches madness in Car, a song in 11/8 with vocals à la King Buzzo. Continuing on the subject of the Melvins, in the bursts closely linked to Grunge, the guitars of the Seattle band immediately come to mind; as well as the bass and the voice's gloom, on other occasions, closely recalling the band The Jesus Lizard. An anachronistic album, I admit, but after the sweetness that lived on the edges of Palehound, I try to sharpen even the roundings by making you listen to this album which lasts just under 30 minutes, always at high tension, without pauses. Static Machines and Forced Binaries, together with Car, are the most interesting songs! (In Forced Binaries, do you also hear the resurrection of D.Boon and his famous Californian band?)
