LA RECENSIONE

Here I am reviewing the second effort by Everwood. The unknown Hungarian band has created a great masterpiece of melodic prog metal, who would have imagined it. The sound is characterized by the massive, yet not intrusive, use of keyboards and tight and powerful riffs. This creates a perfect alchemy between the melodies of the keyboard and the aggressiveness of the riffs. The album is a concept album and opens with "Pure Awakening", a very evocative African intro. The album’s highest peak is reached with the third track "The Marching Of Time", which makes you want to sing along at the top of your lungs, and the chorus sticks in your head forever. Balazs, the frontman's voice is something extraordinary, with an expression beyond the norm and excellent range. Doing a track by track seems unnecessary since it would detract from a work that should be listened to in its entirety.

So, all roses and flowers then? No, it should be noted that "Like A Miracle" has the same intro as "Land Of The Miracle" by Edguy, which is a pity because it's a beautiful song. Anyway, it's a rare episode that doesn’t detract from a masterpiece that you listen to without skipping a track. Finally, it's worth noting the excellent production that best enhances the band's qualities. A mandatory purchase for all progsters, while at least one listen is a must for everyone else.
