What will remain of 2000s metalcore? Is there a definitive album that can stand as a paradigm of the genre? And if so, which one is it?

We won't tackle these difficult questions here, preferring instead to spend a few words on one of the many examples present in various catalogs and released in past years.

This time we’re talking about Evergreen Terrace from Jacksonville, Florida, an honest band, but one that has never reached the media echo of the likes of Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying.
Boys who don’t even seem to take themselves too seriously, judging by the name that clearly pays homage to the Simpsons and the ironic titles of various songs that reference certain pop culture, like “Chaney Can't Quite Riff Like Helmet's Page Hamilton”.

The peculiarity of this fourth work released in 2007 is certainly to combine metal structures with evident doses of melodic hardcore, trying to revive a kind of epic badreligionian from times past. Avoiding at the same time falling excessively into the breakdown trap.

Indeed, the clean vocals could remind one of Professor Greg Graffin and are far from certain overly saccharine vocals typical of other groups, making both the more anthemic and punk moments like “High Tide or No Tide” and “Chaney Can't Quite Riff Like Helmet's Page Hamilton” and the harder sections like “Bad Energy Troll” mixed salad thrash appreciable.

To close the circle: what will remain in the collective imagination of “Wolfbiker”?
It’s hard to say here too, probably not much, but for those who prefer substance over form, a listen should not be denied.
