Metropolitan sound backgrounds and sinister verses break the inertia of The Eleventh Hour, Eusebeia's third work. This album is a land without borders and features, a jungle of noises, a barely defined territory where the crafty British producer moves with confidence. In the Hellenistic world of koinè, Eusebeia meant "inner piety" or spirituality, an internally owed duty to the Gods. In Greek mythology, the concept of Eusebeia is anthropomorphized with the Demon (Ευσέβεια) of piety, loyalty, duty, and filial respect. All these concepts have a physiological musical transposition in Eusebeia's works, rich in pathos and mysticism.
The Eleventh Hour is a surprising decalog of sounds, in the hypnotic and repetitive sequences of Automatic Self Destruct Sequence, in the aseptic ambient of Discerning Truth Extricate, in the spectral dull thuds of Actuality, in The 59th Minute, Of The Eleventh Hour (On The Last Day) where the ambient is mixed with dark field recording, in the icy jungle of Up In The Air, in the austere proselyte of Passage, in the distant echoes of Surrender.
Rebellion Electronics, the label that produced the album, opens its web page with "We don't offer much, apart from a view or a perspective." Indeed, so far, Eusebeia's is the only material produced, but the perspective is definitely encouraging.
