THE REVIEW

Extraterrestrial take me away
I want to go back to my home
extraterrestrial come find me
I want to go back to start again
!

from "Extraterrestre"

The abandonment of the more direct song form, the search for a more intimate and personal style. "Dal Blu" from '83 was this for Finardi, an album with gentle, polished, and precious tones. "Strade" documents the live experience drawn from that work and reprises its more private atmospheres to reinterpret them in a more rock-like way without betraying its essence.

We are in '84. Finardi is a child of the '70s, more political and full of contrasts; a true Italian rocker, he manages in the '80s to find the right way to continue making music without losing his identity; to do so, he just needs to look inside himself and convey his emotions. Thus "Musica Ribelle" does not lose its strong thematic charge, it is still effective in its compelling power rock. "Non é Nel Cuore" is engaging and fades into the simple synt melody that opens "Patrizia". What a beautiful song! A text we would all like to be able to write, wonderful, light combinations "You have eyes green like the sea of a tropical atoll / open like the prairie sky", and again "And I love your taste of strawberries and summer cream / of freshly stepped grass". The more intimate moments continue with the beautiful "Amore Diverso" and "Notte", both from "Dal Blu". The more rock side of Finardi emerges with "Valeria Come Stai", the remarkable "Fino In Fondo" and in his free manifesto, "La Radio" here taken from a soundcheck. They close with the ethereal "Le Ragazze D'Osaka" and "Extraterrestre", the audience (German) sings the famous reprise with him, an anthem to man and his disillusions.

"Strade" is a good live album, perfectly recorded with a Finardi in great shape... it's not available on CD, better! Vinyl is much warmer.
