In 1975, the prototype of the particularly angry Italian singer-songwriter makes his debut, Eugenio Finardi, in fact, with his debut album, and especially with the subsequent "Sugo" and "Diesel," brings to the beautiful country a wave of rock with high concentrations of political and social themes. His role as a bard of the chaotic times of that period, ugly and very difficult with continuous tensions, makes him today a witness to a dark period in Italian history.

Listening to his early work today makes many relive periods of agitation and militancy. For others, like myself, who did not experience the '70s, it is a simple and direct way to try to understand it. It should be clarified that Finardi is not a singer-songwriter like his contemporaries, he is a rocker in every respect, and in this work, he delivers highly successful and thrilling tracks. It begins with "Se Solo Avessi", Alberto Camerini's guitar delivers the first distorted riff, then Calloni arrives on drums, and the ride begins on which Lucio Fabbri's violin fits in as Finardi sings

"If only I had a Kawasaki/then yes, I would get all the women I want/but since I don't have a Kawasaki/I will only stay/at home smoking/and waiting",

it is an anthem to being oneself and achieving one's goals with one's own strength

"And sooner or later you'll understand/that what you have done you will possess/that what you have thought you will realize/".

Musically, it is a track that is influenced by our native prog-rock, the violin especially makes the difference throughout the album, "Quando Stai Per Incominciare" instead is a ballad on the duty to serve the homeland, the military is justly seen as a huge waste of time, in those who have been under arms it will awaken many memories, in others, like me, who had the fortune to see compulsory service abolished, a chance to reflect on the role it has had in forming many generations, for better or worse.

"La Storia Della Mente", on the freedom of thought written with Claudio Rocchi, is another beautiful ballad with a nice prominent saxophone, few chords for a masterpiece, also with a high social content, are "Caramba" and "Afghanistan", and the cover of Marini's "Salutermo Il Signor Padrone" is overwhelming.

A beautiful and important album, which opens the best series of Finardi's albums, before the historical ebb of the 1980s that will, understandably, lead him towards forms of sophisticated and refined pop, brought to the maximum in "Dal Blu" of 1983.
