THE REVIEW

"Batelages" is not an easy album to listen to, especially for a new music enthusiast. In fact, it consists of several lengthy tracks interspersed with spoken interludes. However, an interested listener will find themselves well engaged with monumental singles such as "L'Amulette Et Le Petit Rabbin" or "Madame Richard Larika".

The record features numerous influences ranging from chamber music to free jazz, from theater to avant-garde.
Exactly, avant-garde, because Etron Fou Leloublan was a band, along with Art Zoyd, Univers Zero, and Henry Cow (and many others), belonging to the so-called "RIO" (Rock In Opposition) movement, which made musical exploration and experimentation its fundamental characteristic.

An album so interesting as to be almost grotesque and never recognized among the band's masterpieces. Therefore, listening is a 360-degree experience that engages and excites, creating surreal, almost comedic atmospheres; with impressive instrumental preparation from the musicians and more than satisfactory vocal quality from the singer, I have no hesitation in adding this record to my list of favorite Rock albums, especially for its refined and provocative artistic edge, and its meticulous musical exploration.
