There are phases in life when everything seems still, static, devoid of energy... phases where change/non-change feels forced, repeated, necessary, and painful... then you are gifted "Leucocyte" and a new journey begins. Liberating. The journey will not be simple... but once you overcome the initial difficulties, the dark corners will be illuminated, the routine will be unraveled, and the traveler's courage will be rewarded with epochal phrases, unexplored atmospheres...

It is not a journey for everyone. Consider yourself warned.

"Decade" is the necessary transition. The passage between two worlds. As soon as you feel you are still stuck in the usual places, it will be Dan Berglund's bass to pick you up and throw you into the intoxicating vortex of Esbjorn Svensson Trio's notes. "Premonition" has begun. Do not be afraid, let go, close your eyes, and even the incessant drumming of Mangus Ostrom at the end of the track will not seem like gunshots, but the first signal of perdition. Real and earthly. You are in the vortex, and the boundaries of “Contorted” are not far. Relax. Soon there will be a pause. Apparent. As always. “Jazz.” It will then be the madness of “Still” and the sweetness of “Ajar” to accompany you towards “Leucocyte,” the final track of this CD, composed of four different parts.

The “jazz” of this trio is brave, it confidently surpasses the barriers of the “already known” and climbs (surpassing them) on the boundaries of the “standard”. For E.S.T., all it takes is a hint of electronics and an incredible dose of genius. Perhaps this journey will be the definitive one, the journey that will truly take us far from the usual destinations... or maybe it will be the journey that will accompany us with a new perspective on old goals. No one can ever know... but it is certainly an infinite journey that will leave us emptied, tired, and reborn. Too many emotions, too many feelings... perhaps it is no coincidence that Esbjorn Svenson, shortly after the recordings of this CD and at only 44 years old, really embarked on the ultimate journey of his life... I can only imagine him up there, in a duet with Petrucciani, smiling and looking down on our silly fears.

Music is loss, communication. Music is therapeutic, it just takes the courage to listen and let oneself be captured...
