Hello everyone, this is my first review on Debaser, and I hope to win you over!
I've chosen the debut album of one of the most important Italian artists of all time. Actually, the most important without a shadow of a doubt: Ramazzotti Eros. He represents us proudly around the world, especially in Latin America where they literally go crazy for him. From this first album of 1985, we can already understand a little bit why he has been so successful: first and foremost, a winning image, as the cover features the handsome Eros with bandaged fists and a bowed head symbolizing youthful discomfort, and secondly, a series of tracks one more gripping than the next, lined up in a spine-chilling sequence. Hold on tight!
It starts with the track that gives the title to the entire record: "Cuori Agitati". A fresh track, still current for its dance rhythm and the simply chilling keyboard opening. The lyrics talk about the difficulties of being young nowadays, that is, in the '80s. Difficulties at school, with girls, and most likely even an echo of his memories for his inseparable dog, Billy. Following is "Respiro nel Blu", quite ordinary, but it's with the next track "Buongiorno bambina" that you get swept away and blown away by the Eros you don't expect. At times aggressive, almost metal in the chorus where the electronic drums seem to go crazy and at the end, there's even an electric guitar solo! Now instead it’s a very sweet ballad, to catch your breath, I don't want to take away the pleasure of this song from you. "Volare navigare camminare" I see as a tribute to good Italian music, just the title recalls the Pooh (hello Stefano Dorazio...). Then we have "Una storia importante", which was a great hit even today, although it only came sixth at that year's Sanremo. The words of the song and the anger always bring a tear to the eye. Who among us hasn't sung those verses perhaps on a scooter in the rain? Then there’s "Quando l'amore" and finally the dance returns, followed by "Dritto x quell'unica via" where we have a nervous Eros again (listen to the electric guitar lines), "Libertà libertà" is the penultimate, very introspective track, and it closes with the famous "Terra Promessa" which was taken to and won at the Sanremo festival the year before in the young section. A track that perfectly closes an album that already contained the seeds of a young artist but already aware of his prospects.
Absolutely to be rediscovered!
