Ermanno Rea (1927–2016) was an Italian novelist and journalist from Naples, author of La Dismissione.

Born in Naples in 1927 and died on September 13, 2016. He worked as a journalist and photographer and authored about a dozen books. He was a partisan during 1944–1945 in a brigade operating in Tuscany (as noted in contemporary accounts). His 2002 novel La Dismissione was adapted by Gianni Amelio into the 2006 film La stella che non c'è, starring Sergio Castellitto.
