Climbing "My Rocky Mountain" allows you to explore new lands and new flavors. Scents, colors, and the character of a utopian distant land will captivate and conquer you. Built in the distant 2005 B.C by Emperor Erik Sumo, the mountain path is dusty and rough, consisting of 12 tracks with a Balkan aroma, all instrumental-electronic, with powerful synth bass, bright guitars (acoustic or distorted), banjo, drums (etc...) that will take you through Middle Eastern atmospheres, Zorba-like sit-ins, and a few Morriconian spaghetti Western touches in a great instrumental experimentation that might be defined as new-jazz/dub/trip-hop, comparable to "The Cinematic Orchestra's" research work, though with very different results. The Hungarian "Erik Sumo" band consists of: -István Pápai (percussions), -István Balahoczky (bass, conga), -Ádám Mészáros (guitar), -Ambrus Tövisházi (a.k.a. Erik Sumo, acoustic guitar, banjo, keyboards, . . ) -Juli Fábián and Erzsi Kiss (vocals) and other collaborations such as Gábor Subicz on trumpet in the fantastic first track "This Is Where It Began", a "Charge!!" à la Q. Tarantino. . .
An essentially instrumental album where the few and repeated vocal words (with some French echoes as in the dub-sirtakian "Csillag Vagy Fecske" or in the wonderful "Friday in France") nevertheless have a characteristic role, somewhat Thievery Corporation, often tasked with undergoing delay and accompanying a growing drum... other times they have a more prestigious role as in the cover "Summertime", or in "The Real Moustache". . or they give the piece that melancholic and carefree magic that fills and possesses you, becoming a cult, like the mythical track #6, the title of the album. So Let's go to Budapest! Get ready well for the trip, we leave when the sun rises, the climb is a dizzying descent until the last track, and once you reach sunset, I assure you you will be changed! : )
