Eric Clapton & The Yardbirds

Musical Group

Eric Clapton was the Yardbirds' lead guitarist from 1963 until 25 March 1964. The period produced studio singles and live club performances (documented on Five Live) important to the development of British blues-rock. Clapton later left the band and went on to further fame.

The review notes the 1975 compilation 'Yardbirds: Eric (Slowhand) Clapton' (studio singles + live tracks), Five Live was recorded at the Marquee Club on 20 March 1964, the first Yardbirds album included live material, and Giorgio Gomelsky is credited with the 'Slowhand' nickname origin in the review. The review also states Clapton has been inducted three times into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as solo artist and as member of Cream and the Yardbirds).

The review discusses Eric Clapton's tenure in the Yardbirds (1963–25 March 1964) and the 1975 compilation 'Yardbirds: Eric (Slowhand) Clapton', which assembles studio singles and live tracks (partly from Five Live at the Marquee Club). It highlights the historical importance for British blues-rock, praises the band's live energy, and notes poor live recording quality.

For:Fans of 1960s British blues/R&B, collectors of early Yardbirds material, and listeners interested in Eric Clapton's formative years.
