I think that, on this site, it's time to talk about Enzo Avitabile as well. I am surprised that, among all the music connoisseurs who spend their time here, not one has taken a few minutes for this artist. So I set out to review "Alta tensione," an album from 1988. We are in the period of success for the saxophonist who, in terms of musical style, is very close to Pino Daniele, adding, however, an exceptional touch of soul, as already proposed in "S.O.S Brothers" and in the previous albums.

Provocative and seductive cover that attracts a part of Africa, Afrika Bambaataa (a top-notch collaboration). The title track is very beautiful, but I would shift the attention to another piece from the album: "Punta il Naso al Nord." Behind a rhythm that mixes soul and blues with a touch of rock, there hides a not at all predictable text. Certainly, this song, sung by a true Neapolitan, doesn't sound exactly great, but music can also offer us this. "Solo" is the third noteworthy piece: a beautiful Neapolitan-Italian mix that has a lot of Pino Daniele (just to change things up). As usual, in the standout albums of certain artists, there are some very beautiful, almost magical pieces in my opinion. These songs often suffer from the shadow that covers them, stemming from the success of the single from the same album. This is the case of "Aliseo" and "Resta Bob," really two great pieces. For the rest, there is little to say about THIS album. Enzo Avitabile is talked about too little, but the reality is that few have reached his level, perhaps also because of this that he was "understood" little by the public, but as we know, certain music is not for everyone, it's said. I highly recommend this album, it will greatly please fans of soul and blues but will also manage to convince those who "live" in rock.
