Anyway, I told myself, for that "Sister In Love" buying the Envelopes' record will certainly be worth it.

You too might have seen the homemade video, at times thrilling (especially when a horse vainly tries to eat an apple), of this electro-rock piece sung with a vaguely punk voice and whose chorus, once heard, settles in your head for days, nights, I imagine months and years (like the charm, so mythical, of a friend's sister).

It’s necessary to immediately unveil these envelopes: they are Swedish, oh yes, them too. They make short, colorful, playful songs, where often the ultra-distorted roughness of the guitars covers the voice, intertwining with organs and synths in an unpredictable, often absurd, almost always thrilling manner. The Envelopes are good, even when they clean up, put on their best dress, and turn to folk ("Your Fight Is Over"), though they’re at their best in pieces where the almost always spot-on melodies contrast with a musical embroidery (often overwhelming, in time and volume) that thickens with dirty sounds with almost discordant and out-of-tune effects.

There's no punk, but the Scandinavian punkish base is there, you can feel it, it creeps into this series of anti-songs, mock-songs best interpreted in a state of comatose drunkenness. The best pieces are the lilting "I Don’t Even Know", "Isabelle And Leonard", "I Don’t Like It", and the tracks sung by an absurd childlike voice ("Massmouvement", once again folk-tinged, more than the others). Here you find fantasy, fun, a bit of healthy madness, a great desire to make nursery rhyme music (see newcomer Swedish band I’m from Barcelona) without giving up on polluting genres and sounds.

Beautiful album, fresh and direct: buying "Demon" was worth it.
