THE REVIEW

Entombed... this name might remind you of a funeral home, yet it's a great death metal band that has recently lost its way, only partially recovering with Morning Star. In 1991, after debuting with the good Left Hand Path, the band released Clandestine, a milestone of death metal, a musical manifesto of unprecedented power, an album recently overlooked but that elevated Entombed to the podium of death metal greats.

Like the previous Left Hand Path, the CD revisits horror themes (although fewer) in the tracks, adding an extra touch to this already splendid CD. It opens with "Living Dead," an excellent evil and aggressive track that summarizes the sound of the entire album, followed by "Sinners Bleed," in my opinion the best track on the CD, where drummer Nicke Andersson relentlessly hits his drums and introduces a soundwreck into which the singer Petrov inserts himself. The track suddenly stops, and Andersson resumes slowly until he reignites the track's power, which ends almost abruptly. The third track is "Evilyn," a macabre love story, followed by "Blessed Be," another masterpiece of the album where an extraordinary Andersson, accompanied by the two excellent guitarists Uffe Cederlund and Alex Hellid, showcases a powerful and neurotic track shaken by Petrov's infernal growls. Then it moves to the good "Stranger Aeons," followed by "Chaos Breed," a very dark track that talks about the cursed book par excellence, the Necronomicon, followed by "Crawl," a track that starts furiously and hammers the listener for a full 6 minutes. Closing this masterpiece are the excellent "Severe Burns" and "Through The Collonades."

Great CD. A tremendous performance by singer Petrov with growls that seem to come directly from hell, a great drumming by Nicke Andersson, who unfortunately would leave the band not long after. Recommended for Death Metal enthusiasts. Get it, and you'll love it!

"Palace of confusion
castle of pain
beneath these walls of power
I'm lost in hells Domain
I am scattered in my own blood
I am losing all my beliefs
but I was not just going to be dying
I am bleeding like sinners bleed"

The nude, cruel, obsessive, and macabre ferocity of ‘Left Hand Path’ finds its maximum sublimation in ‘Clandestine’.

After an initial auditory break-in, the album’s definition of sound allows you to savor and fully enjoy the numerous riffs and masterful musical maturity.
