From Castelfidardo, here come Entail, a project that began in 2010 and reached its first release in 2013 with the EP "Lies of a free man," which subsequently led them to a European tour and to have a clear idea on what to do in view of the debut album. This debut arrived in March with "United States Of Mind," a well-produced work featuring Tony Lindgren and his Fascination Street Studios in the mastering process. We could classify their proposal within the realm of modern metal, with wide references to the Scandinavian melodic death metal scene concerning the sound structure and strong crossover echoes in the stylistic interpretation. What stands out about this work is above all the intensity; each track seems to have been designed to achieve the best possible live performance, which certainly makes the tracklist more "vibrant" and intense, containing some really interesting songs. The vocal aspect highlights mostly the screamer of the moment, but in my opinion, it leaves the right space for melodic vocals (the most interesting in terms of expressiveness) and the occasional choruses that break the rules of the game. Intensity and groove are qualities that do not seem to be lacking in these Entail, at times comparable to early Chimaira for their hard and pure approach, as in tracks such as "Think before you speak" and "All ways," perhaps the best of the entire batch. As mentioned earlier, the work done on the sounds has certainly given the project the right push, honoring especially the virtuosity of the guitarists, often placed at the center of attention through crystal-clear riffing and high-level solo passages. An overall very positive debut that would have been even more interesting if the "hard" side of the vocals had managed to offer more solutions to its performance, impactful but quite standard in interpretation.
