In 2005 Ruggeri sang: "Between the movie actors and the children of Africa between family quarrels and love stories for a better world the girl smiles swallowed by the TRASH".
An explicitly anti-television song and its contents, but little did he know that less than a year later he would also end up in the "trash" as a presenter of questionable programs?
Well, let's move on to the album in question, "Love and War" a new album after two years from "Musician's Eyes", let's leave aside the "Punk Before You" phase for now. The album is in the Ruggeri 2000s style, pop songwriting, with some rock nuances.
So no chansonnier or rock that characterized him in the 80s and early 90s, the songs present cover various themes: from war, post-war, xenophobia, to the usual love stories.
You can find tango-like rhythms in "The Last Romantic Aviator" and rock hints in "The First Time" a piece that tells the first carnal experience of two young people.
The true gem of the album is "When I Dream I Have No Age" where the Milanese singer-songwriter takes on the role of the poet and gives us this exquisitely sweet song describing the path to be with those who are no longer with us for just a moment.
I feel obliged to mention "The Moving Man" as well, where the singer manages to describe the mover's job in a very intense and anything but trivial way.
What can I say, a Ruggeri album, nothing more, nothing less, far from his excellent works "Peter Pan" and "Falco e gabbiano" but a highly enjoyable and pleasant album to listen to, as long as you like Rouge's husky voice!
