"It’s almost ten minutes shorter than our last record and packs ten times more of a punch."

This is how the frontman speaks about the band’s new work; the third for the guys from Richmond, Virginia U.S.A.

And I add: just over thirty tightly packed minutes for ten tracks played with a frenzy, a voracity, a crazy speed that I haven't heard in ages.

Let's clear things up immediately: nothing new from a musical point of view (after all, who is still capable of finding new paths, experimenting with new sounds?). An explosive mix of Thrash Metal that looks back to the past with a precise reference: Slayer, masters and custodians of the nastiest metal for over thirty years.

Finally, I repeat "FINALLY", a production capable of equally enhancing guitars, bass, and drums (Century Media Record has always satisfied my ears, unlike that other label, I won’t name them but those who know me should remember, which has instead ruined tens and tens of records in the last decades with flat, sloppy, colorless productions... but let's put aside the controversies, come on).

All the individual tracks are constructed in the same derailing way: no intro, no wasting time. Right from the start, from the first seconds, they go full throttle, with the rhythm section able to dictate frenzied beats. The solos of the two cyclopean guitars have as a reference the Hanneman-King duo of the aforementioned Slayer: subtle, frenzied distorted, dissonant notes that unleash Hell.

Very few moments of armed respite, audible in some passages; to give themselves and listeners a chance to catch their breath. They immediately start up again at full speed, hitting you with colossal blows to the face. So fast as to recall the Old-School Hardcore of bands like Agnostic Front and Suicidal Tendencies in some passages... and I've said everything!

The voice is a sonic blend between Max Cavalera of early Sepultura and even, especially in the higher and shriller notes, John Tardy of Obituary.

I don't think it's necessary to mention even a single track; what I’ve written is more than enough.

For the moment, the extreme album of 2023 and it will be difficult to beat it...MERCY KILLING FIELDS...

Ad Maiora.
