THE REVIEW

Just under a year from "Relapse," Eminem returns to the scene with a new album ("Recovery" indeed). Let me preface by saying that I am merely expressing my opinion and do not intend to impose my idea; however, I was saying that Eminem returns after the great success of "Relapse" (which they labeled the best-selling rap album of 2009) and presents a different album in style but not in themes ("So Bad" deals with his relationship with his mother, "going through changes" talks about the usual Kim but says he will always care for her). In fact, besides samples of rock pieces (Black Sabbath in "won't back down" and R.E.M. in "Going through changes", with an unusual "what is love" in "no love") it features many more melodic choruses compared to previous albums and pop collaborations (Rihanna in "love the way you lie", Pink in "Won't Back Down", Kobe in "going through changes") and the only Hip-Hop collaboration is with Lil Wayne in "no love", surprisingly Dr. Dre (who is still involved in the album's production) and 50 Cent are absent.

The result is a good album, catchy but unfortunately not up to par with the initial works (as they featured a purely rap style or slightly less contaminated compared to this album), and at times slightly repetitive due to the melody of the choruses in many songs (many power ballads), criticized by many online or considered "already heard" (in XL it is called a "rehashed" work in terms of production, samples, and themes, but that's known, they recur in every one of his works). An exception could be "not afraid", the first single, which in my opinion combines the album's contaminations with his aggressive style. I don't recommend it to fans of the first "LP" because they would be disappointed, even I took a while to get used to it, as I expected something more hip-hop and less contaminated, but overall I appreciated it.

Summary by Bot

Recovery marks Eminem's return with a style shift toward more melodic choruses and pop collaborations, differing from his earlier pure rap works. While the album is catchy and includes notable tracks like "Not Afraid," it is sometimes seen as repetitive and less innovative. Fans of Eminem’s initial work might find it disappointing, but many still appreciate this evolution.

I did not like "Recovery" at all.

No one raps like Eminem, not anyone.
