Emilie Simon wastes no time.
It hasn't been long since she enchanted us with the delicate melodies composed to accompany the emperor penguins scaling the box-office of world cinema.
When I first heard her (at the cinema, of course), I immediately thought of a Bjork clone. And indeed, I wasn't the only one to think that way. Blame the electronic sampling, blame the gentle and mysterious melodies; nevertheless, a well-done clone.
Then I listen closely to the two albums released and rethink. The forced comparisons and the urge to criticize those who take credit by copying others gradually disappear. In what this girl sings, there is something that somehow makes her unique.
And in this new work, the doubt becomes certainty. The little French girl knows her stuff, and she proves it with 13 original and, above all, very beautiful songs. Small poems with melodies whispered with an uncertain and innocent voice, capable at first listen of stopping time and projecting the listener into evanescent, intangible territories.

Once and for all, Emilie clarifies the essential difference between her music and that of the Icelandic sprite: warmth. It's the lifeblood that flows in her veins that is different, the fact that she has been nourished by the romantic French melodies of days gone by. Today, that unique something is expressed with extreme grace, giving us an artist extremely aware of her many qualities.
"Alicia", "Le Vieil Amant", "Sweet Blossom" and "In The Lake" are authentic masterpieces of good taste, characterized by evocative music and meticulous electronic arrangements that are never intrusive.
The only weak point for Emilie seems to be the more rhythmic compositions: the still original "Rose Hybride De Thé" and "Never Fall In Love" turn out to be a bit chaotic and perhaps not very suitable for the delicacy of the album.

In any case, this is an excellent work, an original way to leave this world, to remain suspended in a personal limbo of beautiful hopes and to return safe and sound, perhaps even a bit changed...
