Rating: While the creature from Berlin remains in a state of absolute hibernation, someone has wisely decided to make the most of their position by bringing a breath of music from its silence.
Richard Kruspe, founding member and guitarist of one of the most innovative musical realities of recent years, namely Rammstein, serves up on a silver platter a small project that does not satiate, but at least lubricates the hungry mouths of millions of fans, awaiting a new official release from the Germans. Because these Emigrate are nothing new... If not a handful of perfectly Rammstein-esque riffs (almost all already exploited, listen to believe), mixed in a modern key, also ranging on pop attitudes. Richard Kruspe, besides playing, also ventures into singing (now in English), in the simplest and most imitative way, all already heard...
The song structure coincides with what I just said. It starts with a title track that is overall lively, especially for those who love Rammstein and chew their sound like a pleasant gum, then enters a tunnel of easy and clichéd settings, not at all bothersome (rather..), but that give the sensation of a certain lack of ideas (The succession of "Wake Me Up", "My World", "In My Tears", and "Let Me Break" is a puzzle called "Reise, Reise"). The album slips by pleasantly, and the turn of "Babe" and "New York" does nothing but add the usual ingredient, even more popular, even more modern. "Resolution" is a Sehnsucht track, without Lindemann. The rest has already said everything, a note for "This Is What", standing out compared to the others.
Little to say, as Richard did after all...
It's not a bad album, it is not, if we take it from many points of view (fans primarily), it's an album that gets listened to... But for those who are objective and demand art in music, it's truly a tough endeavor, because it feels like floating on a sea in complete calm, endless flatness.
May Richard continue to contribute to the mosaic along with Tille and company as a guitarist, because he is a guitarist, and nothing more.
