Elvira is the stage persona created and performed by Cassandra Peterson, an American actress and horror hostess known for campy, Halloween-themed hosting and pop-culture appeal.

Born in Manhattan, Kansas (Cassandra Peterson). Created the Elvira character while working with the Los Angeles comedy troupe The Groundlings. Appeared in Federico Fellini's film Roma (1972). Known for hosting Elvira's Movie Macabre and starring as Elvira in film and TV; 'Monster Hits' is a 1994 Rhino Records compilation referenced in DeBaser's review.

The DeBaser review covers Elvira's 1994 compilation 'Monster Hits' (Rhino Records) and treats Elvira as a campy, humorous horror-host persona. It recalls Cassandra Peterson's early film appearance in Fellini's Roma and her work with The Groundlings, and highlights Elvira's blend of vampish imagery and tongue-in-cheek humor. The review is affectionate and nostalgic, rating the release 3/5.
