Eluvium is the poetry of a moment.
It's easy to get lost in the intricacies of complex music: after all, it's normal, as it tends to give us more stimuli, intoxicate us, fill our ears with all possible sounds. It deludes us into finding a lasting satisfaction, which unfortunately vanishes in no time. Like all things.
And indeed, surrendering to this music is disconcerting. Because it's bare. It's the much sought-after "description of a moment."
An accidental memory in case of death. Few images have the same expressive power, the same fleetingness. And with this album, it's easy to imagine it, the moment. Because it's a short album. Eluvium will never achieve such a goal again, as lengthiness (from time to time) penalizes it.
Unfortunately, moments have the flaw of dying quickly. For this reason, you have in your hands an extension of that moment, which will still remain short. When you reach the end, don't be sad because it's already over. What matters is living it. And later, if you have the strength, reliving it.
Don't cry. Imagine dying after savoring it. Motionless, look inside yourself. You will understand that death strips you bare, but preserves your memory intact. It's the memory you would want to carry with you forever. And so be it.
