THE REVIEW

When in 1998 the radios were broadcasting "Sleeping In Your Hand," the very first single by the small artist from Monfalcone, industry insiders were sure that Elisa would make it big.
And indeed, she did. In almost ten years of career, the little singer has produced five albums, not all of them outstanding (such is the case with Asile's World, an electronic album where the artificial sound ends up masking the true essence of the songs), centered around her own world and emotions.

If Lotus, an acoustic album, already marked the fame and great talent of the singer, this Pearl Days is a significant confirmation, thanks also to producer Glen Ballard, who has previously produced for great artists like Alanis Morrissette, No Doubt, and Anastacia.
The album, which turns out to be the only clearly rock-inspired album by the singer, tells ten stories, ten thrilling tales, with the life and experiences of Elisa as the common thread, who loves to express herself through music.

The album, in essence, is composed of true musical gems, such as "Together," the first single released, which, with its compelling chorus, becomes a clear warning message for the American people, who should protect themselves from the powerful oppressor Bush. In "Bitter Words," Elisa shows her fragility in the face of bitter words that strike her heart; "Pearl Days" is a true anthem to life despite the difficult international situation; in "Joy" the singer says: "I can shine like the sun, if you'll be the only one, waterfall where my light will shine on, pure joy, a shower of pure joy."
Also unforgettable are: "Written In Your Eyes," "I Know," "The Waves," and the beautiful "Life Goes On" which narrates a piece of the singer's history. The song tells indeed the saga of Elisa's grandmother who, left pregnant by her husband deported to a concentration camp, is full of hope and optimism.

Once again, the little singer from Monfalcone has managed to enchant and mesmerize with her soothing voice, poetic lyrics written from the heart, and her great, indeed very great interpretation that brings her closer to the Olympus of international stars.
Well done, Elisa.

I can no longer compare her to Morissette or Björk.

Listen to 'City Lights' alone in the dark of your room, and at the chorus, a tear will surely fall.

"Pearl Days is not the rock album one might have expected, but Elisa intended to return to the pop-rock of her origins with all the maturity and experience she has gained."

"The most impactful track is probably Joy, a song with a catchy refrain that seems to want to give the words the value of a mantra."

An interim album, certainly poetic and intense, with openings to new insights but not yet focused on the new artistic direction.

Talent requires the test of time, and from 'Cure Me' and other hits enough years have passed.
